Sara Ramo Movable Planes
Autumn – Winter 2009
The Photographers' Gallery, 16 - 18 Ramillies Street
Strongly informed by performance art, Movable Planes juxtaposes Ramo’s still and moving image works, which often focus on sequences of actions, events or interventions. When people do not appear in the work, inanimate objects such as screwed up pieces of paper, black balloons on strings and taped lines on the ground, are given a life of their own. They become characters in imaginary narratives constructed by the artist. Inspired by the innocence of childhood and magical realism, Ramo creates parallel worlds beyond the restrictions of adult reason. With this exhibition she explores the thin line between order and chaos in everyday life.
